| Bear Grass on Granite Mountain |
Tags: friends,outdoor,scenic Date: 2009/629
We went on a weekend stroll on Granite Mountain with Flora. It was supposed to be a just a last Spring easy hike but we were in a surprise treat!
Sunday morning started with drizzle and fog. About mile and half into the woods, we started seeing bear grass along the way. As we walked closer to the mid-mountain mist, we saw more and more. They were like stars sprinkled across the slope. Totally spectacular display.
The top of the mountain was still snow covered. We didnt bring poles or ice axes so we stopped at the ridge and enjoyed the view.
The sun came out around noon, the sky turned blue and Mount Rainier peeked out behind clouds.
Life is still worth living.

| Snowshoeing with Old Friends and New |
Tags: friends,outdoor Date: 2009/419
Went snowshoeing this afternoon along the Snow Lake trail. The mountain is still well covered: the skip resort is doing a brisk business and the snow pile measures several feet from parking lot on.
We did not reach the ridge. The trail is hard to navigate and hard to traverse. We did have a lot fun along the way, wasted our energy on climbing a pretty steep hill.
Su Xia had the most energy. Xu and DS are the bigger surprise though. They made it all the way to the top with us with quite a bit to spare.
